In this way, after hearing the words from the holy mouth of the great people, the parents requested, “What a poor gift! Keep this child at your feet again, so that he may be happy and we may also be happy.”

 

In this way, Shri Maan Baba Uttam Singh Ji came to the place of the great men with sweet sweets and at that time, the great Purban also made Kachhira drink at the same place and seeing the mercy, all the diseases were cured. As it is said – “Dukh Dur Karan Ji Ke Datara..”

(Page 392) After regaining health, the saints made a vow of penance that they would serve the saints who came to fill the water for the langar, the Sadh Ayagat, wash the clothes, wash the utensils, prepare the langar, and read Gurmukhi in the remaining time. While doing this, Sri Japji Sahib memorized all the verses like Shabad Hazare, Rehras, Kirtan Sohila, Anand Sahib, Sakhmani Sahib and Asa Ji’s War.

Sanka used to recite Rehras Sahib Ji daily, and would prepare and bring prasad in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji daily.

Thus, many years had passed since he had served the Sangat and received the happiness of the great men. At that time, he was sixteen years old.

 

At that time, while wandering around, Sri Maan Mahant Bhai Jawahar Singh Ji reached Mitha Tiwana, playing Gandharb Raagi. It was their rule that wherever they went, there would be Amrit Vela. Sri Asa Ji used to perform the kirtan of the var and the evening chowki. He stayed here for 22 days and continued to perform kirtan both times without Naga. While enjoying his beautiful and juicy kirtan, Sri Maan Sant Hari Singh Ji prayed to him that you should keep this young Utam Singh with you and teach him the method of this prophetic kirtan, you will be very kind to him. 

 

The Saint Ji accepted this prayer with great joy, then after staying for a few days, when Sri Maan Sant Jawahar Singh Ji was ready to leave, Sri Maan Sant Hari Singh Ji came with him for some distance as a sign of respect and on the way Sant Utam Singh Ji taught him that he should serve his elders, should not lack in respect and should know him as his Guru from today onwards. In this, all his desires will be fulfilled.

At that time, a saint, Mahant Hari Singh Ji, who lived in another dera in the same city, met him and asked, “Where are you taking this boy?” Sant Hari Singh Ji replied, “That we are sending him with these great men, so that he will learn some virtues, he is a student of raga vidya, he will teach the congregation in the future and he will praise the Lord himself.” Then that saint said, “If Maharaj learns any virtues, then he will not be fit for your work, he will get wings and become corrupt.” The saints said, “If he is not fit for our work, then he will become fit for his work, it is only good to be corrupt in the company of saints.”

 

As it is – “Ganga ke sang salita bigri | So salita Ganga hoi nibri | Bigriyo Kabira Ram duhai | Sachu bhaio an kateh na jai | 1 | Rahhaa | Chandan kai sang tarvaru bigri | So tarvaru chandanu hoi nibri | 2 | Copper is stronger than Paras. Thus Sant Hari Ji took leave and returned and Sant Jawahar Singh Ji took Sant Utam Singh Ji with him and reached Sri Amritsar on 1923 Bikram. At that time, he was sixteen years old and brought him to his residential place which was prepared by the elder Shri Mann 108 Sant Amir Singh Ji* in front of the Dera Gali Satowali with his own hands in 1900 Bikram.

 

After Shri Mann 108 Sant Amir Singh Ji, Sant Gurdit Singh Ji became the Mahant of this Dera. After him, Sant Jawahar Singh Ji (Aap Ji was born in the house of his father S. Nand Singh Ji in the village of Shah Jivane) was serving this place. The place was rough and small, there were only one or two residential huts. The poverty was so great that He used to earn his living by beating and playing the flute, but the Guru’s feet had become very strong. After taking Sant Jawahar Singh Ji as his Gurudev, Baba Uttam Singh Ji continued to serve the elders in the dera. Along with this, he also became well acquainted with the Rag Vidya. He also studied the Santha of Sri Nanak Prakash himself. (Sri Mann Sant Baba Uttam Singh Ji studied Nanak Prakash once from Sant Jawahar Singh Ji, his Gurudev Ji, and the second time from a student of the great poet Santokh Singh Ji.)

 

In the morning, he would reach the first chowki of Sri Har Mandir Darbar Sahib Ji and attend the Kirtan of Sri Guru Ramdas Sahib Ji and then give his head to Sant Uttam Singh Ji and listen to the Shabad. When Sant Uttam Singh Ji would recite the Shabad from his sweet throat, the Sangat would start dancing in joy.

 

One day, a lover (Sant Uttam Singh Ji) gave a Duani to a child while reciting Kirtan, Aad Ji hid it and put it in his pocket. Sant Jawahar Singh Ji took care, after the Kirtan was over, when he went to Hari’s steps to take Amrit, the Saint asked, “What has that lover given you?” Then he showed the Duani and said, “Maharaj! I have given you Duani.” The Saints said, “Do not take the donation of Amrit below, gold above, from here, throw it in Amrit.” Thus, throwing the Duani into the Sarovar itself, he came to the camp. Sant Ji was the owner of such high thoughts.

 

Maharaj Sant Jawahar Singh Ji used to reach the pilgrimage of Une Sahib every year during Hola-Mohalla time. From here, he would climb on a toga and descend to Jandiala, Jandiala to Pandori, walk three miles from Pandori and stay at Baba Bakale for the first night, from Baba Bakale he would go to Beas and take a vehicle and descend to Jalandhar. From Jalandhar, he would climb on a toga and then walk to Une. Shri Maan Sant Uttam Singh Ji also used to go with him every year. He would go there and play that kirtan sound that would take everyone into detachment and make everyone attain samadhi.

 

Thus, Sant Jawahar Singh Ji always kept his mind fixed on the service of the Guru Ghar. They had a Parikrama Chouri built at Baba Bakale and a beautiful Nishan Sahib was installed on the day of Raksha Purnima, costing 1500 rupees, and from that day onwards, the Raksha Purnima fair has been held every year till now. Many very famous Raga singers of Raga Viya are proud to be their disciples, such as: 

(1) Bhai Shankar Das Ji, Mahant of Shahpur. 

(2) Bhai Sant Das Ji, Mahant of Chak Musa. 

(3) Bhai Das Ram Ji of Jhawarian. 

(4) Sant Jawahar Ram Ji of Shahpur. 

(5) Sant Jodh Singh Ji. 

(6) Bhai Jawahar Singh Ji Surdas (Tarn Taran). 

(7) Bhai Suchet Singh Ji (Dargahi Shah).

(8) Bhai Hari Singh Ji Shah Jivane Wale. 

(9) Bhai Kahan Singh Ji of Bagan (who used to sing the Kirtan of the Sahib while staying with Mata Narain Dei Ji). 

(10) Bhai Sobha Singh Ji of Amritsar (he was the priest of the Samadh of Baba Bikram Singh Ji). 

(11) Shri Mann Sant Baba Uttam Singh Ji. He taught many people.

 

In the morning, Bhai Chet Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, Bhai Jassa Singh Ji always performed the Kirtan of Sri Harmandir Sahib Asa Ji. The saints had great love for them, whenever they went to Sri Harmandir Sahib, the singers would respectfully seat them in the front. The saints would definitely sing a Shabad to fill the audience, then sit back when the Bhog was due and then return to the Dera. Thus a long time passed in serving Sant Jawahar Singh Ji. The great men were pleased and registered the Dera in his name on 26 Maghar 1945 Bikram, on 9 December 1888 AD, and Sant Jawahar Singh Ji passed away on 23 December 1888 AD, Poh Wadi Teej 1945 Bikram.

 

He did a lot of good by taking charge of the Dera. One of the great benefits of yours is this great benefit that you wrote the holy book of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji with your own hands from beginning to end. From the beginning, you had a lot of interest in teaching the writing and reading of Gurbani. At one time, your disciple Sant Amir Singh Ji, the great Brahmo Gyani, requested you for this auspicious work, but your body was weak and you had a chronic disease of asthma. You told many writers that you should do this service and you will be given money, but no one dared to take up this great work. Then Sant Amir Singh Ji requested you, Maharaj! Take the initiative yourself, perhaps through this service your asthma will go away. Thus, you wrote the entire Bir by hand (which is published at the Dera every Sangrand and during Akhand Paths). The last ragas of it were written by Shri Maan Sant Kirpal Singh Ji in cooperation with you, then you published many Birs and improved them with great effort. You also made the entire Dera building strong and brought it to this beautiful color.

 

Throughout your life, you used to go to the court of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji at dawn without Naga Amrit and after offering one word, you would return after hearing the Hukam.

 

Sri Mann Brahm Gyani Sant Baba “Sham Singh Ji” (who, as per the rule, used to hold the first chowki in Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji every morning at dawn for seventy years, and during the Kar Sewa of Amrit Sarovar, Satguru also gave him the honor of being included among the five beloveds) had immense love for him. Whenever he would reach Harmandir Sahib, Baba Sham Singh Ji would request him to recite a Shabad and would come with the Siranda. He would make one of his servants sit beside him to pick up the Siranda. After the Kirtan was over, that lover would bring the Siranda. This was his daily habit.

 

Sri Mann Brahm Gyani Sant Baba “Sham Singh Ji (who, as per the rule, used to take the headscarf with him every morning at Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji for seventy years, and during the Kar Sewa of Amrit Sarovar, Satguru also gave him the honor of being included among the five beloveds) had immense love for him. Whenever he reached Harmandir Sahib, Baba Sham Singh Ji would request him to recite a shabad and would come with the headscarf. He would make one of his servants come to him to pick up the headscarf. After the end of the kirtan, that servant would bring the headscarf. This was the rule every day. Then, if there was any defect in the headscarf, Baba Sham Singh Ji would send it to him to fix it. Thus, till the age of 110, he never hesitated to attend the Darbar Sahib of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji.

 

He had only two disciples, one was Sri Mann Brahm Gyani Sant Amir Singh Ji and the other was Sri Man Sant Jiwand Singh Ji who was a resident of Jhang Maghiana. Bhai Jiwand Singh Ji spent his entire life in service at the feet of Aap Ji. One day, when his body became very ill, he wanted to give him the position of Mahant, but he requested, “Please give the gift of service to a servant, I am not entitled to the position of Mahant, give the turban of Mahant to Sri Man Giani Amir Singh Ji. Because-

“Takht Raja so bahai ji takhtae laik hoi. ” (Page 1088)

 

After hearing these loving words, he gave the great man the blessing of the joy of Jivan Mukti and wrote the Ashtam of Mahant in the name of Sri Man Brahm Giani Sant Amir Singh Ji. Then his body recovered.

 

Thus, Bhai Jiwand Singh Ji spent his entire life in service at the feet of the saints. When Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji The holy story of the 20th Kattak Samvat 2004 M: 5th November 1947 was performed on Wednesday. After enjoying this story, he performed all the services of the Bhog of the story and obtained the happiness of the Sangat and on 22nd Kattak Samvat 2004 Dasmi Thit M: 7th November 1947 Friday, he performed the path of Sri Japji Sahib Ji and was cremated on 23rd Kattak M: 8th November 1947 Saturday.

He had immense love for Baba Sham Singh Ji’s Dera because after Baba Sham Singh Ji Maharaj went to Sachkhand, the Sangat had installed him as the Vice President in the Dera Committee.

When Shri Maan Sant Manna Singh Ji reached Gurcharan on 18 Bhadra, Friday, 2 December 1960 Bhadra Sudhi Swadasi, at 8:15 pm, he came to know about it at night. With the compassion of his heart, he went to Baba Sham Singh Ji’s dera at 5 am and in great detachment, he read these verses “Baba spoke and said” and told Bhai Narain Singh Ji, the disciple of Sant Manna Singh Ji, that the procession of the saints should be taken out with great pomp, if anything is needed, Das is present, bring it from the dera. Then Mahant Sahib Ji gave fifty rupees through Gyani Kirpal Singh Ji and others and said, go and give it to Baba Ji, and pray that he will tell you about any other thing that is needed. So Giani Kirpal Singh Ji went to the Dera and gave the message of Mahant Sahib Ji to the saints and also gave the message of Mahant Sahib Ji, then went to the cremation ground with the body. While sitting at the Dera, Shri Maan Mahant Uttam Singh Ji told Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji to tell Sant Kirpal Singh Ji to send a lover to recite Sri Sukhmani Sahib Ji near the pyre of Sant Manna Singh Ji. Then Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji requested that Maharaj! Grant this service to me only. He went and recited Sri Sukhmani Sahib Ji near the pyre with great love. Thus, Aap Ji had immense love for Gurbani and the saints.

 

Aap Ji spent his entire life in Guru Sewa. At the time when Mahant Bhai Jawahar Singh Ji performed the service of Baba Bakale Sahib’s Gurdwara by grinding lime with his own hands, he also continued to participate in all the service.

 

At one time, the Sikhs requested the Tenth Patshah Ji of Anand Pur Sahib that the True Patshah! The place of penance of the Guru Pita, the protector of the Hindu religion, is Bakale Sahib Wala Bhora (the place where the ninth Patshah Ji performed penance for 26 years), a beautiful Gurdwara should be built there. Then the Patshah Ji replied that the service of that place would be done by our beloved Sikh Sadhus, the ones from the Kachhreya. So this sacred word of Kalgidhar Ji was fulfilled by Shri Maan Mahant Bhai Jawahar Singh Ji. It has already been mentioned in the past about his life that he used to make a living by beating the drum and spinning the drums.

 

Although other sadhus and students of the Dera used to recite the Bani to Aap Ji at all times, but one devotee made it a rule to recite the path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib every day, whose name is Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji. He started reciting the path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib Ji by appearing in the service of Sri Maan Mahant Baba Uttam Singh Ji Maharaj on Basant Panchami 1 Phaggan Sammat 2015 Thursday (according to 12 February 1959). When the Bhagwat of Sri Sukhmani Sahib Ji was being recited, Sri Maan Mahant Baba Uttam Singh Ji used to recite this daily-

“Sukhmani is the source of happiness. Reading and listening to it is the success of one’s work. Sukhmani is recited day and night. Sukhmani is the gift of happiness. Whoever recites Sukhmani, let him recite it. May the fruit desired by the mind be so obtained. May the reader of Sukhmani be happy. May what is spoken on the face be so. May Sukhmani remain in the ocean of life. May men be on the sea of ​​life.”

 

At first, he would come once in the morning and recite it. When he had been reciting it for about five months, he would ask, “Do you eat bread once or twice?” I said, “Yes, I eat twice.” He would ask, “Then why do you feed us once?” He would also recite the paath to us twice. From that day on, he started reciting the paath twice.

 

He was so fond of the Bani that he would often wake up in the middle of the night and say, “Has Harbhajan Singh not come yet?” What time is it? Take us to Sri Darbar Sahib. Then the servant said, Maharaj! It is midnight now.

 

Thus, having spent his entire life in Naam Bani, at the age of 110, he listens to the Sukhmani Sahib Ji’s path as per the daily rules, and after performing Samadhi like a Yogi, he sits in Saroop at 9 o’clock and leaves his robe around 1 o’clock. After that, the path of Sri Sukhmani Sahib Ji has been continuously being performed by his five ghostly bodies all day and night for twenty and a half hours till 9:30 am the next day. The music of Kirtan continued outside and many Raagis came and performed Kirtan. In which the group of Bhai Uttam Singh Ji Sindhi, the resident Raagi of Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji, also came and performed Kirtan in Maru Raag and Punjab Sangeet Wale also brought him to Vairag through Kirtan.

 

4 Paths of Sukhmani Sahib Ji were performed by Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji and the rest of the devotees also participated. After taking bath for half an hour, when they came out of the camp, the priest Bhai Darshan Singh Ji was standing with a siropa from Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji, that siropa was placed on the head of Sri Maan 108 Mahant Baba Uttam Singh Ji, after him other Mahants also put on silk sheets. The great men of Seva Panthi Addan Shahi, the great men of Nirmal Bhekh, the great men of Udasin Bhekh, the lovers of the city, the Gurmukhs of the Shabad Chowki and the Granthi Singh Sahib of Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji Giani Kirpal Singh Ji, Giani Chet Singh Ji etc. all joined in with their beauty. With the band playing and the loud sound of the Narsinghs, the procession of the body left the Satto Wala Dera at exactly 10 o’clock, went to the salt market, rice market, Papad market, Kathia market, Haran house, paid obeisance, then reached the crematorium in front of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji’s Sarai, Baba Sahib, Chowk Karori, Bibeksar, Ramsar and paid obeisance. There was a huge crowd at the crematorium and from 9 o’clock in the morning, Kirtan and Sukhmani Sahib Ji’s path continued in the crematorium till 3 o’clock. Finally, after enjoying the path of Japji Sahib Ji, Bhai Sahib Bhai Mul Singh Ji offered Ardas, then by the command of God, the five ghostly bodies were cremated. Then according to the Guru’s custom, Bibeksar came, there was a pot of Karah Prasad brought by the adorned Sri Man 108 Mahant Baba Jhanda Singh Ji Maharaj on the throne of Sri Man 108 Brahm Gyani Baba Sham Singh Ji. First, Kirtan Sohile Ji was recited by Granthi Singh Ji, then Anand Sahib Ji was recited, after which Sri Man 108 Mahant Mool Singh Ji modified the prayer and the command came-

Then the Karah Prasad was consumed and the Sangat returned to the Dera, took bath and distributed Prasad.

 

Then on the fourth day, 20 Poh Mu, January 3, 1961, at 8 am, Maha Purakh Agyani Kirpal Singh Ji, along with the Sangat, reached Masan Bhoomi from the Dera in the form of a procession, reciting Shabad Kirtan. Ahead of him, the Mahatma, Mahant, and Sant Narsingh were present there amidst the roar of the Narsinghs. On that day, since early morning, the devotees from the Dera had reached Masana and were reciting Sukhmani Sahib. After the Bhog of Sukhmani Sahib, the Raagi Bhai Jivan Singh Ji, who had come from Ludhiana, was reciting Gurbani in a rendition of Bheera Vairag May Kirtan. The Sangat also went and enjoyed the rendition. Then, after reciting Sri Japji Sahib, picking flowers, the Maha Purakh reached the Dera in the form of a procession, reciting the sound of Kirtan and chanting “Satnaam Waheguru”.

 

At that time, all the congregation paid their respects to Sri Man Baba Uttam Singh Ji by putting flowers in a basket and placing them on a beautiful bed and from that time, the devotees of Sri Sukhmani Sahib Ji began to recite the path of Sri Man Baba Uttam Singh Ji near the flowers. As long as the flowers remained in the dera, the path continued for eight hours.

 

On the fourth day itself, the normal path began in the memory of Sri Man Baba Uttam Singh Ji, whose Bhog Kriya was performed on Thursday, 29 Poh 2017, i.e. 12 January 1961. On the fourth day, the flow of Sri Akhand Paths also continued. Then, to take his ashes to Haridwar, they were brought to the station at three o’clock in the form of a procession in jeeps and markets. The recitation of the Bani was accompanied by a shower of kirtan and simran. In the evening, Sri Man Sant Kirpal Singh Ji along with the following devotees left for Haridwar.

Das was also worshipping at the station with G: Surjit Singh Ji at that time and after getting the permission of the great men, he started the train and came to the dera along with the sangat, and some ashes of Shri Maan Mahant Baba Utam Singh Ji were also sent on 2 Magh by Sri Kiratpur Sahib Bhai Karam Singh Ji (Gardwai of the Bhindran Wale Saints), they went there and immersed them in water at Sri Kiratpur Sahib Patal Puri on 3 Magh Sammat 2017 i.e. 15 January 1961. Meanwhile, when he reached Jalandhar station, Shri Maan 108 Bhajan Murti Mahant Bawa Sant Das Ji was waiting with the sangat in the Ghanghor of Narsinghiya, there were about three hundred sangat. Everyone respectfully bowed down to the flowers of Shri Maan Mahant Sahib Ji and offered flowers of respect and the devotees offered flowers of respect. Tea etc. were served to the congregation sitting in the vehicle then sending the entire congregation back to Jalandhar, Bawa Sant Das Ji himself got into the vehicle to go to Haridwar and Shri Maan 108 Mahant Gurmukh Singh Rohtak Wale and Shri Maan 108 Mahant Bawa Sant Das Ji Jabi Wale came from Ambala station and met them and they also went to Haridwar.

 

Then at Jagadhari station, the President of Shri Maan 108 Sewa Panthi Bhekh Sahib Pandit Nischal Singh Ji came with the congregation with jugs of tea and cooked food, after giving them a glimpse of flowers and said-“Today our Bapu Ji has left us forever by performing the auspicious act, this loss will never be filled.”

 

They were saying such renunciation words that the train started and said, “We will reach Haridwar station before you by sitting in the car.” So they reached Haridwar before the train arrived.

 

The next morning, monks, Udasis, Nirmalas and other saints of other faiths had arrived at Haridwar station and took out a procession with band instruments, placing flowers on the palanquin and reaching Kankhal.

 

Along with the procession, Bhai Harbhajan Singh Ji continued to recite Sukhmani Sahib, of which 3 Astapadis were recited by Guru Sri Guru Amardas Ji sitting on the steps of Kankhal, then Sri Maan Pandit Nischal Singh Ji, all the saints, Mahant lovers together recited Sri Japji Sahib. After this, after praying again, Sri Maan Sant Kirpal Singh Ji and others immersed the ashes in water with their lotus hands.

 

4 Magh 2017: On the day of the persecution, 16 January 1961, after the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path held at Khadkhari Pratap Bhawan, Haridwar, the great Gurus Shri Mann Pandit Nischal Singh Ji, Gyani Garib Singh Ji, Pandit Sucha Singh Ji, Shri Mann Mahant Hakam Singh Ji etc. Gurmukh lovers paid tributes through Vagyans regarding the high life of Sri Mahant Sahib Ji, after which the entire collection was permanently preserved.

 

January Again, Sri Amritsar Ji came to the Dera and on the day of Ekiya, 8 Magh 2017, i.e. 20 Jan 1961, Friday, Sri Akhandpaths were recited. Then Sri Mann Pandit Sant Nischal Singh Ji, Sri Mann Mahant Hakam Singh Ji, Sri Mann Singh Sahib Gyani Kirpal Singh Ji, Sri Mann Singh Sahib Gyani Chet Singh Ji, Sri Mann Mahant Mool Singh Ji, Sri Mann Mahant Hari Singh (Editor Nirmal Abhishek), Sri Mann Mahant Sant Das Ji, Sri Mann Mahant Gurmukh Singh Ji of Rohtak, Sri Mann Mahant Asa Singh Ji of Goniana Mandi, Sri Mann Mahant Tulsi Das Ji of Kaithal, Sri Mann Mahant Hira Singh Ji of Patiala and their disciples Sant Gupal Singh Ji, Sri Mann Gyani Waryam Singh Ji of Dhur Kot, and Sri Mann i.e. Dalip. Singh Ji Katha Vachak Manji Sahib Amritsar etc. expressed detailed views on the high life of Mahant Sahib Ji.

 

After this, all the heads of the Sewa Panthi Addanshahi Bhekh, Gurmukh Jan, Mahants, Sants, all the Mahants Sants of the Nirmal Bhekh, heads of the Udasin Sampraday, President of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Amritsar Chaudhary Jiwan Singh Ji and other dignitaries of Sri Amritsar Ji presented turbans to Sri Mann Sant Kirpal Singh Ji i.e. others, and on behalf of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, Bhai Nika Singh Ji Ardasiya also put the siropa around his neck and Sri Mann Pandit Nischal Singh Ji Sant Pura Jagadhari Wale from Sewa Panthi Bhekh, from Nirmal Maha Mandal, from Udasin Bhekh, from Sri Mann Mahant Baba Jhanda Singh Ji and from Sri Mann Mahant Gurmukh Singh Ji Rohtak Wale, adorned the five turbans on Sri Mann i.e. Kirpal Singh Ji’s head and performed the turban bandi ceremony by handing over 1 broom and 1 bowl as per the rules of the Sewa Panthi Sampraday. Later, the permanent storage was used.
