Sant Baba Makhan Singh Ji.
Makhan Singh Ji was born on [date] in the house of Sardar Bahadur Singh Ji and Mata Chand Kaur Ji in the village of Panj Gariyan Kalan, District Faridkot. He received his primary education from the school in his village. After completing his studies, he was married to Bibi Jaspal Kaur Ji. From an early age, Makhan Singh Ji possessed a saintly nature. He was always inclined towards spirituality and kept the company of saints and Mahatmas.
During his spiritual journey, Makhan Singh Ji met Sant Harnek Singh Ji and received spiritual guidance and education from him. Later, he went to Guru Ke Lahore, where he engaged in deep meditation for three years. Afterward, he traveled to Uttar Pradesh and established a spiritual center named Gurudwara Nanaksar Malpuri, where he served the Sangat for many years with utmost dedication.
He then came to Amritsar and met Sant Baba Kirpal Singh Ji. At that time, Makhan Singh Ji was guiding and educating around 100 Banjara Sikh children, imparting Gurmat Vidya and Sikh music. At the request of Sant Kirpal Singh Ji, he chose to stay in Amritsar. During Sant Kirpal Singh Ji’s lifetime, the Dastarbandi (a ceremonial honor signifying spiritual leadership) of Makhan Singh Ji was performed by Sant Kirpal Singh Ji himself.
Sant Kirpal Singh Ji passed away on 23rd May 1984. After his passing, prominent Sikh leaders, including the then-Mukhi of Damdami Taksal Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and heads of various Sikh sects and institutions such as Sevapanthi, Udasi, Nirmala, Nihang Singh Jathebandis, and others, jointly honored Sant Makhan Singh Ji with the Dastarbandi ceremony once again, recognizing his spiritual stature.
Throughout his life, Sant Makhan Singh Ji administered Amrit to countless individuals and actively preached Gurmat teachings both in India and abroad. In every district of Punjab, he organized 101 Akhand Paths. Upon the completion of each Akhand Path, he arranged the wedding of a girl from a poor family, followed by an Amrit Sanchar ceremony. In this noble way, he led a continuous and impactful mission to spread Gurmat.
On 3rd February 2023, Sant Makhan Singh Ji left this world, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, service, and spiritual awakening.
